Brighter Futures for Children is improving outcomes for Reading's children, young people and families.
We are an independent, not-for-profit-company, wholly owned by Reading Borough Council. Our responsibility is to deliver quality children's services, early help, education and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services in the borough.
The Team/Role
Reading YOS currently has a vacancy for a Serious Youth Violence Worker who can engage support and divert young people identified as being at risk or involved with serious youth violence, knife crime, gang-related activity, child criminal and sexual exploitation.
You will be able to engage and support young people who have offended or are at risk of offending. The YOS is located within Brighter Futures for Children and also has strong links with partner services working with young people.
You will need to have an understanding of Serious Violence issues and be able to work with others to implement a wider partnership understanding of issues contributing to youth risk and develop appropriate responses. You will need to be prepared to work some evenings/weekends on an occasional basis.
