Social Worker - Family and Friends
Job Advert
BRIGHTER FUTURES FOR CHILDREN
Full time 37 hours per week, Permanent
BE PART OF OUR IMPROVEMENT JOURNEY - "IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE"
Do you have at least 2 years' experience of Social Work with children and young people and Foster Carers or Adopters? Are you as passionate as we are to make a positive difference and achieve Permanency via
Family and Friends arrangements without delay for our children and young people? We'd like you to apply to become part of our Fostering Team, more specifically the Family and Friends Team as a Social Worker.
Join a small team that works closely in partnership with our operational teams and together we are driving towards achieving best outcomes for our children when assessing family and friends carers. You will undertake Viability Assessments, Special Guardianship Assessments and Connected Persons Foster Carer Assessments. You will also complete Private Fostering assessments and might at times be required to attend court.
Right now we're driving through a progressive and ambitious Improvement Plan. Our goal, quite simply, is to put our children at the centre of everything we do. In this role that means making sure that we are securing permanency via permanent fostering for our children and young people without delay. As a member of our Fostering team you will have all the support, training, coaching and supervision you require to do an exceptional job.
We have a dynamic auditing model "Beyond auditing", valued highly by front line workers and managers. In addition to seeking and sharing views on the findings of audits, the model includes live coaching and reflection with social workers and managers on their work with children and families. This is creating a learning culture which we passionately believe in. We continue to use the Signs of Safety approach and offer training for all staff in this well respected, evidenced methodology. We are well on the way to the creation of a new Children's Company which will support an unrelenting focus on outcomes for children.
So how does it all look in practice?
* Research in Practice (RIP) membership across Children's Services
* A commitment to effective supervision including guaranteed supervision time.
* A range of professional development opportunities available right here in house.
* A commitment to a safe and manageable caseload.
* Strong, supportive leadership
* Strong, professional partnerships to support vulnerable children and our Foster Carers.
In addition there is an excellent benefits package including long service rewards, a generous pension scheme, free registration and access to Research in Practice, flexible working, and reimbursement of HCPC registration fees, see our Council website for more benefits we offer.
What's more, you can look forward to living and working in this superb location. Here in Reading, you'll find a rich heritage combined with a vibrant nightlife, great places to eat and drink, a diverse music scene, excellent sports facilities, high-performing schools and some great shopping too. There are also excellent transport links, with central London around 25 minutes away by train.
If you can help us transform the lives and futures of our vulnerable children and young people, we'd love to hear from you.
