Reading Borough Council is a continually high achieving Transport Authority with a proven track record of service delivery and the following exciting opportunity has arisen.
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Engineer. You will need to demonstrate the drive and desire to manage the demands of the road network through
parking management, co-ordinating events, improving road safety to developing intelligent transport systems and services.
Reporting to the Assistant Network Manager you will help to develop innovative transport solutions, implement transport policy and deliver traffic management schemes. Other responsibilities will include supporting the Civil Enforcement Team and Elected Members at formal and informal public meetings. You will deliver reactive traffic management schemes and assist with solving local traffic and parking issues. You will also assist with the development of our universal traffic management and control system (UTMC), deliver casualty reduction schemes and help with aspects of the Local Transport Plan and other strategic schemes.
You will need to demonstrate experience in transport and highway issues and a good understanding of the urban environment. Good interpersonal skills will be essential alongside management experience and the ability to react to changing circumstances in a positive way.
