The Leaving Care Service in Reading is seeking a skilled and experienced practitioner to join us in the role of Assistant team manager.We offer you the opportunity to work within an established team supporting children looked after and care leavers from 16-25 years.You will be joining a team that comprises of 1 team manager, 4 social workers and 7 leaving care advisors.This role involves the continued development of the leaving care service, alongside the team manager and care leavers, to provide a service that prepares and supports care leavers through to independence. Our service works to achieve young people's fully participating in their service. This leadership role will support our service aim to assist care leavers to be socially included in their communities, including sustaining ongoing employment and learning opportunities.This role allows the opportunity to progress the quality of staff supervision and learning alongside developing close and effective working relationships with key statutory and voluntary agencies to facilitate planned and coordinated multi-agency working.You will provide direction and oversight in relation to our work with care leavers. You will be responsible for providing high quality leadership and supervision as well as the efficient and appropriate escalation of significant incidents. Professional development is a key priority in our service and you will be supported to develop your knowledge and leadership.As an Assistant Team Manager you will report directly to the Team Manager and be responsible for the day to day operational leadership within the team.
To be able to successfully deliver the objectives of this role and play a key role in our high quality and effective team, you will need to be a qualified social worker, HCPC registered, with experience in direct work with young adults. You will need to have some direct management experience within a statutory children's social care service from which you can demonstrate that you were able to effectively maximise the potential of others.
