Reading Borough Council is a continually high achieving Transport Authority with a proven track record of service delivery and the following exciting opportunity has arisen.
We are looking to recruit a Technician in the Traffic & Road Safety Team. We require a keen individual with the drive and desire to help manage
the demands of the road network through parking management, be involved in co-ordinating events, help to deliver casualty reduction schemes and assist in the development of intelligent transport systems and services.
Reporting to the Assistant Network Manager you will help to develop innovative transport solutions, implement transport policy and deliver traffic management schemes. Other responsibilities include supporting the wider Network and Parking Services Team, which includes civil enforcement. Your work will include the delivery of reactive traffic management schemes and helping to solve local traffic and parking issues. You will also help in the development of our universal Traffic Management and Control System (UTMC), deliver casualty reduction schemes and help with aspects of the Local Transport Plan and other strategic schemes.
You will need to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, and enjoy problem solving in order to assist with developing our IT applications in delivering intelligent traffic and transport solutions.
